As pinups we put our lips through the ringer! Matte, long lasting lipstick can wreak havoc on your lips if you don't establish a regular lip care routine.
For beautiful lipstick, we require smooth, moisturised lips.
When you include a regular lip care routine you’ll notice your lipstick sits so
much nicer on your lips and won’t feel so dry or cracked.
To achieve this we need to make sure we are prepping our
lips well before applying lipstick, removing it correctly, and also maintaining
them well in between.
Here’s some easy lip care steps that you can incorporate into your beauty routine.
TIPS TO CARE FOR YOUR LIPS
Put lip balm on while applying the rest of your makeup
By the time you get to your lipstick it will be absorbed and
provide a nice smooth, moisturised base for your lipstick.
Remove your lipstick with care
If your makeup remover has any alcohol in it, try not to use
that directly on your lips as this can dry them out. I like to use coconut
oil as it breaks down even the most long-wearing lipstick without too much
rubbing and scrubbing.
Dry brush daily
Use a clean, soft bristled toothbrush to gently dry brush
your lips daily to remove any dead skin. I like to follow this with a
nourishing lip balm such as Lucas’ Papaw Ointment.
Use a lip scrub weekly
Exfoliate once a week using a lip scrub to get your lips
back to a smooth and healthy state. You can buy one, but I love to make my own
at home. Simply apply the scrub in a circular motion and then wipe off the
excess.
