Who am I?
What? My name is - who?
Hey I am Renae, also known as Miss Hg Mercury.
I created the Sunshine Coast Pinup School because I wanted
to show women that they can unlock unlimited potential with creativity and
confidence through vintage styling.
I may be biased, but I believe everyone suits the vintage
aesthetic. Pinup is not just about those posters pinned on the walls of
soldiers anymore. Pinup gives you an avenue to express your unique personality
and style within the fun, creative musings of mid-century fashion.
And believe it or not, vintage styling is not as complicated
as you may think! That is why I show you my tried and true, tips, tricks and
techniques to recreating many looks from the 1920's up to the 1960's.
I hope through my Pinup School Blog and YouTube Channel you can learn a new style which you can
confidently rock and tackle the world in.
Miss Hg Mercury
Every pinup needs a pinup name!
For the nerds out there, you may notice some science in my
chosen pinup name. I am a true nerd and geek at heart working as a laboratory
chemist and science journalist in another life. This is why I have taken to
learning pinup styling with a sound experimental approach, and aim to teach
techniques in a straight forward, logical manner.
However, I don't just talk the talk.
I have been lucky enough to be a professional pinup model
working with some of my favourite vintage reproduction brands, worked alongside
renowned photographers and stylists, and been the head stylist and photographer
for various magazine and fashion campaign shoots.
My experience both in front and behind the camera allows me
to create a comfortable, relaxed photoshoot environment filled with first hand
pinup posing tips, focusing on certain muscles and angles that only comes with
real-world experience.
I chose to hang up my camera at the end of 2024 and focus on the abundance of resources available with the Sunshine Coast Pinup School so that you can transform yourself into pinup perfection.
